Course Structure
Master of Arts (English Language Teaching) is a uniquely designed Postgraduate Degree Programme, which combines and constitutes of outstanding features of various disciplines and sub-disciplines of English Language Studies; however, its central emphasis subtly remains of English Language Teaching. The Degree is awarded by the CVM University and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.

M.A. (English Language Teaching) is a full time Programme of study spanning Two Years. Each year is divided into two semesters.

Eligibility
The candidates should be eligible for admission as per Charutar Vidya Mandal University Criteria. Student who must have passed any Bachelor degree conducted by the UGC recognized University or an examination of any other University of statutory examining body recognized as equivalent there to in accordance.

Programme Outcomes
• The program offers the comprehension of three crucial elements: English language, Linguistics and Pedagogy.
• The structure of the program would assist the students to understand the present scenario and helps them to experience teaching in different situations.
• The program offers the scope of research through which the students would understand the theoretical and practical aspects of the selected areas.
• The program, in addition to this, assists the students to understand and practice the procedure of materials development which can lead them to the needs of the students and would assist them to develop their professional strengths.

PO 1: The students will understand core areas of linguistics such as phonology, syntax, and semantics to analyze language in academic and classroom settings.
PO-2 The students will be introduced to key theories of education and teaching which will support them in shaping their professional identity as reflective practitioners.
PO-3 The students will be trained to design lesson plans and activities based on learner needs, context, and level, fostering learner-centered teaching.
PO-4 The students will understand the role of sociolinguistics and multilingualism in the classroom and will be able to apply this understanding in inclusive language teaching.
PO-5 The students will be exposed to various methods of evaluation and will learn how to assess language skills effectively and ethically.
PO-6 The students will be able to use digital platforms and ICT tools meaningfully to support interactive and engaging language learning experiences.
PO-7 The students will learn to collaborate on academic tasks and develop the ability to contribute to materials development, workshops, and peer learning initiatives.

PSO 8. The students will demonstrate competence in academic writing, critical thinking, and research documentation as required in scholarly and ELT contexts.
PSO 9. The students will be equipped to plan, conduct, and report classroom-based research, enabling evidence-informed teaching practices followed by internship.
PSO 10. The students will develop the skills to create and implement English for Specific Purposes (ESP) modules tailored to the linguistic and professional needs of target learners and develop their understanding of pedagogy through inductive and deductive approaches.
