Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) is one of the most dynamic and impactful career paths available to today’s youth. In an increasingly interconnected world, JMC professionals play a vital role in disseminating information, shaping public opinion, fostering global awareness and strengthening the business world too. Without the work of journalists and communicators, the flow of information would be disrupted, leaving societies uninformed and disconnected. Journalism serves as a crucial thread that binds humanity together through the exchange of truth, stories, and shared experiences. Most of the JMC courses at ILSASS are completely practical papers and students will get hands on practical experience from expert faculty at fully equipped JMC Studio, and also through expertise knowledge from the industry. For internships and on-the-job training, the students would be placed in various state-level and national-level media houses.
Fifty percent of the minor courses are offered from other disciplines such as Psychology, Politics and International Relations, and English Language and Literature, providing JMC students with the flexibility to choose from a diverse list of subjects. The remaining fifty percent will consist of discipline-specific minor programmes designed to further strengthen the core Journalism and Mass Communication curriculum.
Also, students with eligible marks can opt for Research Dissertation in the 7th and 8th Semesters, whereas others can choose either On-the-Job Training or complete a full-fledged Mass Media Project worth 6 credits. All three options will strengthen the students in practical application, critical thinking, and specialized skills, preparing them for successful careers in the media industry.
Thus, a career as a journalist or communication expert offers a promising and dynamic path for individuals who are adventurous and willing to go beyond conventional boundaries to uncover and present the stories that truly matter to the world.
