Economics is very crucial subjects as it impacts each individual who are part of an economy. From business perspective, it helps to understand the nature and relation of production and other economic variable. Apart from the perspective of expertise in economics, government also recruits economists through Indian Economic service from their different economic department and foreign affair ministries. Moreover, Security and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), International Financial Service Centres Authority (IFSCA) and Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR) in RBI are some crucial institutions that requires persons with excellent economics understanding to take macro-level decisions. Most of the Economics courses at ILSASS are completely theory-based papers. For internship the students would be placed in various state-level and national-level Institution and organizations.
Fifty percent of the minor courses are offered from other disciplines such as Psychology, Politics and International Relations, and English Language and Literature, and Journalism and Mass Communication providing Economics students flexibility to choose from a diverse list of subjects. The remaining fifty percent will consist of discipline-specific minor programmes designed to further strengthen the core Economics curriculum.
Also, students with eligible marks can opt for Research Dissertation in the 7th and 8th Semesters, whereas others can choose either research or complete a full-fledged theory-based papers with 4 credits. All three options will strengthen the students in practical application, critical thinking, and specialized skills, preparing them for successful careers in various research and academic institute as well as government bodies for economics policy formation and analysis. Moreover, it is also important to understand that the all the said position, there are certain mathematical and research abilities required which can be achieve through some added courses.
Thus, a career as an economist, researcher or academician offers a promising and dynamic path for individuals who are adventurous and willing to go beyond conventional boundaries to uncover and present the stories that truly matter to the world.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

1. Analytical and Quantitative Skills
Graduates will acquire the ability to collect, analyse, and interpret economic data using modern econometric, statistical, and computational tools for informed decision-making in public and private sectors.
2. Policy and Research Orientation
Graduates will be equipped to conduct economic research and contribute to the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of policies in various sectors such as health, labour, environment, finance, and trade.
3. Ethical and Social Responsibility
Graduates will recognize the ethical dimensions of economic decisions and demonstrate a commitment to inclusive growth, sustainability, and social justice in their professional practices.
4. Professional and Career Development
Graduates will be prepared for careers in academia, government, international organizations, NGOs, and business, and be capable of pursuing advanced studies or lifelong learning in economics and related fields.

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

PSO1: Understanding Core Economic Theories Students will comprehend and apply fundamental concepts of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics to understand individual decision-making, market structures, national income, inflation, and unemployment.
PSO 2: Application of Mathematical and Statistical Tools Students will develop the ability to use mathematical models and statistical techniques to analyse economic relationships and interpret economic data effectively.
PSO 3: Policy Analysis and Public Sector Evaluation Students will gain the knowledge to critically evaluate public policies, fiscal tools, and government intervention for efficient resource allocation and income distribution.
PSO 4: Development and Growth Perspectives Students will understand the theories and real-world challenges of economic growth and development, including structural change, inequality, and sustainable development.
PSO 5: Historical and Theoretical Awareness Students will explore the evolution of economic thought and learn to situate modern theories within historical and ideological contexts.
